Batch Records: Documenting Everything

Learning Objectives

  • Know what a batch record is and why if it is not written down, it did not happen is not a cliche
  • Understand what must be documented: materials, equipment IDs, parameters, times, operator initials, deviations, yields
  • Create a batch record template for an ethanol extraction
  • Know the difference between concurrent documentation (filling in as you go) and retrospective documentation (writing it up later, which is a red flag)
